Remembering Nikita

Heng ‘Nikita’ Guo
1984-2012

Nikita Guo (郭恒), we will remember you. We will remember you as the brave seventeen year old who moved from China to the United States all by yourself to continue your education. We will remember you as the fearless girl who joined the Texas A&M Corp of Cadets—the most respected and intense Army ROTC program in the country—as a freshman, only a few months after arriving in America. We will remember you as the young professional woman who took on a career on Wall Street. We will remember you for your intellectual curiosity, never satisfied with what you already knew.

We will remember you for your commitment to helping others—for raising thousands of dollars for the victims of Hurricane Katrina and for working to improve educational opportunities for children in rural China. We will remember you for your generosity to family, friends and even complete strangers.

Most of all, we will remember you for the joy and happiness you brought to our lives. We will remember how your smile lit up a room and how your presence made that room warmer. We will remember how easy it was start an engrossing conversation with you, how easy it was to fall in love with you.

We will remember you as a devoted daughter, a loving wife and a loyal friend.

We will miss your endless energy. We will miss your warmth. We will miss your smile. We will miss that sparkle in your eye.

We will miss you every day. We will remember you always.
