Biography

Sinan Aral is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Information Technology at the MIT Sloan School of Management.

Aral joined the faculty of NYU Stern School of Business in 2007 as an Assistant Professor of Information, Operations, and Management Sciences.  His research interests include information & productivity, network structure & information diffusion, organizational complements to IT, business value & productivity effect of IT capital, and IT and business intelligence.

In industry he has worked as an independent consultant with DiamondCluster International, SAP, and Charles River Venture Capital, and as a part-time consultant for GeoPartners Research. He also was an assistant to the director at the European Commission, Brussels.

His awards include a Delphi Fellowship, Microsoft Faculty Fellowship, a PopTech Science and Public Leaders Fellowship, an NSF Early Career Development Award, and an IBM Faculty Award.

He holds a BA in political science from Northwestern University, an MSc in information systems from the London School of Economics, an MPP in information technology policy from Harvard University, and a PhD in information systems from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
