Alumni Engagement Study

To strengthen and enhance positive, enduring relationships with its alumni around the world, MIT Sloan has invited all alumni to participate in a study about alumni engagement. During recent months, the School has asked alumni for feedback to learn more about their interests and needs, ways in which they would like to be involved with the School and other alumni, and what MIT Sloan can do to support and engage alumni.

Key objectives of the study include assessing current levels of alumni involvement and developing specific, actionable plans to increase engagement by providing programs and services of value for the broadest range of MIT Sloan alumni.

MIT Sloan defines “engaged” alumni as those who interact with the School in various ways, including but not limited to

  • Participating in MIT Sloan-related events or course-related activities
  • Posting jobs for/hiring fellow alumni
  • Keeping contact information current in the alumni directory
  • Hosting internships for MIT Sloan students or student-alumni meetings during Trips/Treks
  • Noting their status as a graduate of the School in credentials, media interviews, etc.
  • Contributing a financial gift in support of the School
  • Requesting/obtaining career services
  • Recommending applicants for admission to or employment at the School
  • Volunteering on behalf of the School

Active involvement from alumni in the assessment process will be essential to the success of the study and strategic plans to enhance MIT Sloan’s resources for alumni.

In coming weeks, watch for more information about this study from the School and its partner Simpson Scarborough, a strategic marketing and marketing research firm that specializes in higher education.
