As a successful alumnus/alumna, you have the power to inspire, motivate, and support MIT Sloan students. Your knowledge, experience, and insight will help students maximize their MIT Sloan experience, and open their eyes to the opportunities and challenges they will face after graduation. Whether you were supported by alumni during your own time at MIT Sloan or you want to give back to the institution that has helped shape your career, mentoring is an easy way to make a real, lasting impact.
Students and alumni participating in the MIT Sloan Alumni-Student Mentoring Program upload LinkedIn data and provide information about area of study, career interest/trajectory, and other shared interests to create detailed user profiles. Students learn about and request mentors based on alumni profiles, and you choose to mentor the students you feel you can best support. Because you opt into the program and work directly with mentees to set parameters around how often you will communicate, you build relationships in the way that works best for you.
As a graduate, you understand better than anyone that innovation and cutting-edge thinking define every part of the MIT Sloan experience. When you serve as a mentor, you’ll have regular, direct contact with a student who is immersed in that innovation every day. While students benefit from your experience and insight, they’ll expose you to the new ideas that are shaping MIT Sloan today.
When you serve as a mentor, you form meaningful, rewarding relationships that prepare students to be better employees, inspire them to stay connected with MIT Sloan, and motivate them to support the next generation of students. Mentors help perpetuate, grow, and strengthen MIT Sloan’s global alumni network.
