Dear Reunion ’09 Celebrant:On behalf of our colleagues at MIT Sloan, thank you for participating in a very successful Reunion. This was one of the largest gatherings of Reunion-year alumni in the history of the School, with more than 960 alumni, family members and friends participating in almost 40 Reunion events during the weekend. Alumni from 25 countries, including France, Israel, Brazil, and Japan, as well 531 alumni from the United States, attended.
To date, alumni celebrating an MIT Sloan reunion in 2009 have generously contributed an impressive $2,708,293 in gifts and pledges to MIT, including $1,814,456 in gifts solely dedicated to MIT Sloan. Special thanks and applause go to the four Reunion Committees that achieved an impressive 100 percent participation: 1959, 1964,1979, and 1994. Congratulations are also due to the Class of 1994 for achieving the highest overall participation with 34 percent and breaking the 15th Reunion participation record.
In addition to strengthening connections throughout the MIT Sloan community, Reunion also offers opportunities to engage in academic exploration. Alumni gained a better understanding of today’s economic crisis, innovation in business, global challenges to China’s economy, our energy future, strategies for getting a job, and air travel safety through workshops and Back to the Classroom sessions.
Reconnecting with faculty and fellow graduates, sharing experience and expertise with each other, and continuing to build alumni financial support of the School are but a few of the ways that Reunion and other alumni engagement are key to the future success of MIT Sloan. Your involvement is a powerful vote of confidence in MIT Sloan's mission of developing principled, innovative leaders who improve the world.
Many thanks for all you do on behalf of MIT Sloan. We look forward to seeing you again soon, especially at your next Reunion.
Sincerely,Director, Alumni Relations Loren Van AllenDirector, Annual & Reunion Giving
