Build Your Network

A vibrant internal network
With statistics consistently showing that more than 70 percent of executive and professional jobs are the result of networking, MIT Sloan alumni well positioned. At its core, networking is exploratory, research driven, and expands the envelope of understanding. And in that process, participants often find a compelling fit to move forward together.

Considering the caliber of its alumni, the knowledge-base emanating from campus and the many opportunities to participate in MIT Sloan events and activities, few professional communities offer the rich potential of the MIT Sloan alumni network. As alumni, you have access to a rich variety of outstanding internal networks.

Peer Connection
Opt in to the MIT Sloan Network: You don't have to work in the shadow of the great dome to be a player in the MIT Sloan community. Evolving out of our highly successful Alumni/Student Advisor Program, the new Peer Connection enables all MIT Sloan alumni to share experiences, insights, and connections with each other.

Alumni Clubs
Get involved in the operations of your regional alumni club and get an inside look at marketplace trends and opportunities from fellow alumni at all stages of career. The more active you are in your local Alumni Club the more “reach” you have throughout the network.

The Institute Career Assistance Network (ICAN)
The precursor of our Peer Connection, ICAN is an enhancement to the MIT alumni directory, whereby MIT (and MIT Sloan) alumni offer to be contacted by other alumni who are in networking mode. This is still open to MIT Sloan alumni, especially those looking for domain knowledge in highly technical fields.

Networking Guide
Looking for a practical guide to networking? Download the Networking Guide (PDF) developed by MIT Sloan career advisor Ken White, SM '69. Written pre-Web, the piece is great on the basics and can use some updating on the details. Any alums who would like to contribute to an update of this material are heartily encouraged to participate in this effort. We welcome everyone's input, especially those who have been in either end of the recruiting cycle. Just let us know at mitsloancareers@mit.edu.
