Retired Coast Guard Commandant Thad Allen, SF ’89, led the United States response to last year’s Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Speaking with Dean David Schmittlein at Alumni Weekend 2011, Allen discussed leadership in times of crisis and explained how his time as an MIT Sloan Fellow informed his work in the gulf.
