Stephen Marcus built Matchbox, an app that significantly cuts the time a school’s admissions team spends reviewing applications, in response to a challenge from the MIT Sloan admissions office: Build an iPad app to improve the School’s admissions process.
Marcus, a member of MIT Sloan’s Admissions Committee, built Matchbox in collaboration with the School’s admissions office in 2010. The app allows admissions officers to score applications and review analytics data.
Last month, Matchbox added the UCLA Anderson School of Business to its client list, with more to come. The close collaboration with MIT Sloan continues.
“I built a phenomenal network, both professionally and personally [at MIT Sloan],” Marcus said. “The people I’ve met here—I met 400 of my closest friends. They’ve been just so helpful in building my company.”
