Buck Weaver Marketing Award
Magid Abraham, PhD ’88, SM ’82, cofounder and CEO of comScore, Inc. was honored this year with the eighth annual Buck Weaver Award for Marketing.
New Associate Dean
Kristina Gulick Schaefer joined MIT Sloan in January as associate dean for external relations. In her new role, Schaefer directs all of the School’s work and connections with alumni, including the planning of events like last spring’s Alumni Weekend 2011.
MIT Excellence Award
In March, MIT honored Cindy Hill with an MIT Excellence Award for Greening MIT for her commitment to making MIT Sloan’s new building, including the Joan and William A. Porter 1967 Center for Management Education, the most energy-efficient building on the Institute’s campus.
Remembering Eli Shapiro
Professor Emeritus Eli Shapiro, the bow-tie-bedecked economist who helped to develop MIT Sloan’s academic character, died December 4, 2010, after a short illness. He was 94.
Remembering Abraham Siegel
Abraham J. Siegel, a former dean of MIT Sloan who reorganized the School’s faculty into the three major areas of focus still used today, died on January 16, 2011. He was 88.
