MIT Sloan CISR Visiting Scholars Program
Description of position
- The Visiting Scholar will have an MIT Sloan appointment with an office, telephone, library, and computer access.
- Although MIT Sloan CISR will not pay salary, it will pay a per diem to cover reasonable living and travel costs and research expenses.
- Visiting Scholars will participate in CISR research meetings and seminars, attend (and possibly present at) executive education sessions, and engage in informal interactions with CISR research staff.
- Length of visit will typically be an academic semester or summer, but timing is negotiable.
- MIT Sloan CISR will host one Visiting Scholar at a time.
Expectations
- Candidates should be established researchers, ideally (but not necessarily), tenured. They should be pursuing research with immediate implications for practice, or show strong potential to do so.
- Candidates should be able to speak, write, and collaborate effectively in English.
- Candidates will spend at least 75 percent of their time on site at CISR.
- Candidates can choose the nature of their research involvement. These could include one or more of the following: (a) conducting an individual research study while at MIT; (b) participating in a CISR-led research project; or (c) shaping an existing research project into managerially-relevant writing, presentations, and teaching, with input from CISR faculty.
- Candidates must commit to delivering a written executive briefing based on their research and may also publish a CISR working paper.

Researchers interested in visiting CISR should send (1) an updated CV, (2) a one-page description of the research they would like to pursue during their visit, and (3) potential times for
their visit to Chris Foglia.
CISR researchers will interview top candidates via telephone and during ICIS annually.Visiting Scholars will be chosen by a committee comprised of CISR researchers and external reviewers, Wanda Orlikowski of MIT Sloan and Cynthia Beath of University of Texas, Austin.
