Campus map

MIT Sloan is located on the north shore of the Charles River Basin in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. It is adjacent to Cambridge’s Kendall Square. The campus is within 3 miles of two major interstate highways, less than 6 miles from a major international airport, and is accessible via public transportation. MIT Sloan is a 15-30 minute walk from downtown Boston (depending on the weather). MIT Sloan is a 30-40 minute walk from Harvard University (located just up the river from the MIT campus).

via Public Transportation — MBTA (“The T”) Subway — By train, take the Red Line to the Kendall/MIT Station. Once above ground (you will be on Main Street), head for the nearby Bank of America on the corner of Wadsworth Street. Walk half a block down Wadsworth Street toward the Charles River, then cross the street to a wide flight of stone steps — the MIT Sloan Plaza. The Hermann Building (which houses the MIT Sloan library and faculty offices; also known as E53) is straight ahead, and the main MIT Sloan building (E52) is on your right.

Bus — The CT2 (Cross Town) stops at the Kendall Square T Station, as well as on the corner of Massachusetts Avenue and Vassar St., near the main MIT entrance. The #1 or Dudley/Harvard Station bus stops at the main MIT entrance on Massachusetts Avenue and provides transportation to Central Square and Harvard Square.

From Logan Airport
by taxi — Taxi fare from the airport is about $20-$25. During non-rush hour, the taxi ride will take about 15 minutes. During rush hour, the ride could take 30 minutes.

by subway — The subway ride from Logan involves several transfers. From any terminal at Logan airport, take the airport shuttle bus to the Blue Line subway station. Take the Blue Line to the Government Center station and go upstairs to and take the Green Line trolley to Park Street. At the Park Street station, go downstairs and take the Red Line subway to Kendall/MIT (take the outbound train toward Alewife). Under normal conditions the ride will take about one-half hour.

by car — Leaving the airport follow the signs to the Sumner Tunnel. Entering the tunnel keep in the right lane. At the end of the tunnel, keeping in the right lane, start down an incline and bear to the right immediately at the sign for Storrow Drive. Take Exit 26 for Cambridge/Somerville. Follow the Back Bay/Cambridge signs (do not take the exit for Cambridge/Somerville). Keep in the right lane and follow the Storrow Drive West signs. After passing under the pedestrian walkbridges, change to the left lane and take Exit 2A-N. Turn right and cross the Harvard Bridge. MIT’s main entrance, 77 Massachusetts Avenue, will be on the right at the second set of traffic lights. Take a right onto Vassar Street. Follow it into Kendall Square, which is adjacent to the MIT Sloan campus.

Parking in Cambridge and Boston is generally not an enjoyable experience. Whenever possible, park your car at the hotel at which you are staying, and use public transportation to get to the MIT campus. If you must drive to the campus, there are both on- and off-street parking available. There are several commercial parking lots in Kendall Square, including a large indoor lot at the Marriott Hotel. We anticipate that it will take you approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete the application. Once you hit the Submit button, you will receive an e-mail confirming that you have successfully applied for a course. You can expect to hear back as to your acceptance within 7 to 10 business days. An acceptance package will include an invoice for the tuition fee, payable within 30 days or prior to the start of the program (whichever comes first), as well as hotel and other important information.

Fax or mail: You may also elect to download and the print the application (PDF) for submission by mail or fax.

All information given on applications will be treated as confidential. It will be used only for internal MIT Sloan purposes and will not be provided to a third party.

How long does it take to process my application?
It normally takes only 7 to 10 business days for the faculty committee to review your application.

When will I receive the program itinerary?
After you have been accepted by the faculty, the registrar will send you notification of your acceptance by e-mail. The details about the program will be sent along with this acceptance package. An acceptance package will include an invoice for the tuition fee, as well as hotel and other important information.

When am I considered enrolled in a program?
You are enrolled in a program once you have applied, been accepted, and have paid in full. Enrollment in an Executive Certificate track alone does not enroll you in any programs. You still need to apply to the specific programs you have selected to fulfill your Executive Certificate track requirements.

What is your cancellation policy?
All cancellations must be made in writing. Cancellations made more than 42 days prior to the start of the program will receive a full refund, less a $250 administrative fee. Cancellations made between 22 and 42 days prior to the start of the program will be subject to a 50% cancellation fee. Cancellations made within 21 days prior to the start of the program will not receive any refund.

What if I need to postpone my enrollment?
All enrollment deferrals must be requested in writing. Send a note to the Registrar indicating that you wish to have your enrollment deferred until next year.

Deferrals requested more than 42 days prior to the start of the program will not incur any fee. If you have paid in full, your payment will be applied to the tuition in the new session, and you will not be charged any increase in tuition related to the new session. If you have not paid in full, you will be billed the tuition for the new session. Please note that there may be an increase in tuition for the new session.

Deferrals requested between 22 and 42 days prior to the start of the program will incur a 25 percent fee; deferrals requested between 21 days and 1 day prior to the start of the program will incur a 50 percent fee. Any balance remaining after the fee will be applied toward your tuition in the new session. You will be responsible for the remaining tuition balance for the new session. Please note that there may be an increase in tuition for the new session. Deferrals requested on the day or after the start of the program will incur a 100 percent fee. Your enrollment acceptance will be transferred to the new session, but you will be responsible for the full tuition of the new session.

If you choose to defer your admission to a future program session (within one year), you must attend that session or you will forfeit your remaining balance. There is no cancellation allowed on deferred admissions.

Can I send someone in my place?
If your schedule changes and you can no longer attend the program, you may be able to send a qualified colleague in your place. All substitutes require prior approval from the program faculty. Therefore, any requests for substitutes must be submitted in writing to the Registrar at least 10 days prior to the start of the program. The new participant will also need to fill out an application form.

Attire

What is the typical attire for an executive during a program?
For classes, “business casual” dress is customary. Business casual is defined as skirts/pants, open-necked shirts or blouses, and sweaters. The dress code is always informal after class and for dinner, unless otherwise announced. For dining out on Saturday or Sunday evenings, men may wish to bring a jacket and tie, and similarly appropriate attire for women, as some restaurants have a dress code. Participants who wish to participate in athletics should bring the appropriate attire.
