Jean-Noël Barrot is the Alfred Henry and Jean Morrison Hayes Career Development Professor and an Assistant Professor of Finance at the MIT Sloan School of Management.
Barrot conducts research in corporate finance. In recent work, he has studied the effect of trade credit on competition and entrepreneurship, the propagation of shocks in firm networks, and the implications of globalization for the cost of capital and household debt.
Barrot was recently a research affiliate at CREST-LEI, National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE), Paris. He was also a visiting scholar at the IMF, and an analyst for JP Morgan Industrials and Transportation MA advisory team, London.
Barrot holds an MA in quantitative economics and finance from the École Polytechnique, an MPhil in economics from the Paris School of Economics, and a PhD in financial economics from HEC Paris School of Management.
Current Research Focus: Barrot conducts research in financial economics, with a focus on product market interactions. He is currently working on the formation of production networks and their implications, and on the consequences of import competition for the US economy.
