Kristin J. Forbes

Kristin Forbes has recently rotated between academia and policy positions in the United States government. From 2003 to 2005, she served as a Member of the White House's Council of Economic Advisers and from 2001 to 2002, she served as a Deputy Assistant Secretary in the U.S. Treasury Department. Forbes was recently honored as a "Young Global Leader" as part of the World Economic Forum at Davos.

Forbes' research addresses policy-related questions in international finance and development economics. Recent projects examine global imbalances, financial crises, sovereign wealth funds, capital controls, international tax policy, and international financial contagion. She is a research associate at the NBER, a member of the Trilateral Commission, a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and a non-resident fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics and Center for Global Development. Forbes is also a founding member of Deworm the World, a non-profit organization that has helped deworm over a million children around the world. Before joining MIT, Forbes worked at the World Bank and Morgan Stanley.
