Antonio S. Mello is a Visiting Professor of Finance at the MIT Sloan School of Management.
Mello’s research interests are in corporate finance (risk management, capital structure, and security design), capital markets (arbitrage, manipulation, and crashes), and international finance.
Mello is the Frank Graner Professor of Finance at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business. He has been a professor of finance at Imperial College, London, and has held short term appointments at the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance, the Federal Reserve of Chicago, HEC, Banco de España, INSEAD, and Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
Mello has held director positions at RiverRock Investors, a commodity trading hedge fund, at investment banks Jefferies and Millennium-BCP, at Finpro, a private equity firm, and was the chief economist for the Central Bank of Portugal.
Mello holds a BSc in civil engineering from the Technical University of Lisbon, an MBA and an MA in economics from Columbia University, and a PhD in finance from the London Business School, University of London.
