Michael Capek

Biography

Michael J. Capek is a Senior Lecturer of Communications at the MIT Sloan School of Management.

Capek is a writing consultant with Effective Writing Associates, a company that designs writing programs for professionals in the corporate and non-profit worlds.

He has also been a Clinical Associate Professor in Management Communication at the NYU Stern School of Business. While at Stern, Capek also trained graduate teaching assistants, coached adjunct faculty in classroom techniques, and helped design core courses.  He received the Stern Excellence in Teaching Award, and was named Stern Professor of the Year for 1995-1996.

Capek was also an Assistant Professor of English at Princeton University. He has guest lectured at the Copenhagen Business School, The University of St. Gallen, the Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration, and the ESCP-Europe Business School in Paris. 

He was director of development at New York University and at The Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation, director of foundation relations at Princeton University, and director of public information at the Joint Council on Economic Education in New York City. 

Michael Capek holds a BA and MA from Marquette University and a PhD from the University of Wisconsin.
