Develop a world-class executive.

Although we accept many participants who are self-sponsored, there is a long tradition of sponsorship by companies of all sizes and functions. These organizations rely on the MIT Sloan Fellows Program to develop their next generation of leaders. Larger companies often sponsor several candidates who are reaching pivotal points in their careers. Other organizations—both large and small—handpick their most promising managers to participate in the program. Whatever your needs, we look forward to working with you to determine how we can make the program an effective tool in your overall executive development strategy.

Your company is welcome to sponsor more than one applicant at a time. It is important to understand, however, that organizations nominate many more qualified men and women each year than the program can accommodate. Our Admissions Committee accepts participants based on their individual strengths and on the skills and experience they bring to the group. The quality and diversity of each cohort is one of the program’s essential learning components, and every participant is a key contributor to the composition.

Invest for the long term.

When you sponsor one or more fellows, you are not removing your most promising managers from the global business world—you are immersing them in it. In the program, your fellow will collaborate with peers from approximately two dozen nations and every continent except Antarctica. He or she will network with international leaders and groundbreaking researchers. After one intensive year, your employee will emerge with the knowledge, skills, and confidence essential to a world-class executive. Frankly speaking, you cannot afford not to sponsor your best executives if you want their help in driving your organization forward.

Tackle your agenda.

Every fellow enters the program with his or her organization as a frame of reference, and the lessons learned can be applied directly to the company’s challenges. Through your fellow, you have access to all the resources offered by the program and the broader MIT community. It is possible, therefore, for your employee to come to the program with a specific company-centered agenda and leave with specific takeaways. In addition, many sponsors attest that just being plugged into the global networks of MIT, MIT Sloan, and MIT Sloan Fellows alumni is worth the investment in the program.

Every day, I feel the impact of my Sloan Fellows experience. I am more creative, more strategic, more global in my thinking. The value of the program is integral to everything I do and everything I am. Two years have gone by, and I keep waiting for that sensation to abate, but it doesn’t. Randa Jamali Charamand, SF ’08
