Electives - Full-time fellows may select up to 27 elective units during fall term, including units earned to satisfy research requirement. Electives typically range in value from 6 - 9 - 12 units each. 27 max H1 and/or H2 - elective courses typically meet Mon/Wed or Tue/Thu for 1.5 hours per session or one day per week for 3-hour session

Independent Activities Period (IAP) Units early January to late January
Participation in IAP is completely optional. Full range of MIT subjects offered for credit or non-credit. 12 max IAP offerings range from 1 session to multiple sessions, 1-day workshops to 3-week courses.
