Operations Research and Statistics
The Operations Research and Statistics Group at MIT Sloan applies advanced analytical methods to data-driven problems to generate better solutions. This group investigates a broad range of theoretical and applied topics related to optimization, probability, statistics, and machine learning. With probabilistic modeling expertise and strong optimization skills, the Operations Research and Statistics faculty is developing leading-edge solutions to the most vital data-driven problems facing today’s organizations and enterprises.
The members of this highly collaborative group are well integrated into the broad community of scholars across MIT who work in the areas of operations research, statistics, machine learning, operations management, industrial engineering, and computational science. Most members of the faculty belong to the MIT Operations Research Center, and the group maintains a strong connection to MIT Sloan’s Operations Management Group. The faculty also collaborates with industry partners in health care, transportation, energy, airlines, finance, and government.
