Sloan Innovation Period The Sloan Innovation Period occurs at the midpoint of each semester and provides students with an intensive week of experiential leadership learning, as well as exposure to groundbreaking faculty work. As part of the Core semester, students participate in SIP workshops focused on ethics and leadership. Senior faculty from across Sloan deliver seminars that dive deep into the ethical dilemmas inherent in a variety of functions and industries – and how to navigate from various levels within the organization when values are compromised. The MIT Leadership Center organizes complementary leadership development seminars that include real-time simulations, personal sessions with senior executives, practitioner panels and presentations, skill-building workshops, and self-assessment and reflection activities. The flexibility of Sloan Innovation Period course selection permits students to focus on a particular area of interest. Beyond the core, students participate in additional immersive 3 day to 2 week experiences that focus on the themes of effective teams and leadership, innovation, and improving the world. During the spring semester, Sloan Innovation Period, combined with spring break, affords enough time for on-site visits to host companies for Action Learning lab courses.
