An innovative contributor and a loyal MIT Sloan supporter for 34 years, John F. (Jack) Rockart has been named the George and Sandra Schussel Distinguished Senior Lecturer of Information Technology.
The Center for Information Systems Research (CISR) has received the benefit of his leadership and unflagging commitment to sponsor-based research. Since its inception in 1974, CISR has served as a model for IT research centers worldwide as well as within MIT and is internationally renowned in the field of information systems.
Rockart's loyalty to MIT Sloan extends well beyond his research center. His official duties include teaching MBA, Management of Technology, Sloan Fellow, and executive classes, as well as directing the MBA Information Technology and Business Transformation Management Track. He is a top-notch MIT Sloan ambassador to alumni, prospective students, and corporations. Rockart also spends a great deal of time supporting doctoral and ma's theses and helping students and colleagues develop their research ideas.
In response to his new appointment, Rockart says, “The chair which the Schussels have provided for the Sloan School will enable us to expand our efforts in the area of information technology, a field in which Sloan is consistently ranked number one in the polls, including those by U.S. News & World Report and Business Week.”
