Deborah Ancona, faculty director of the MIT Leadership Center, and MIT Sloan Senior Lecturer William Isaacs say structural balance is vital to the success of teams. Their “Four-player model” asserts that, applied appropriately and in the proper sequence, four core acts — Move, Follow, Oppose, and Bystand — are the building blocks of an effective team.
Between classes, homeworks, activities, recruiting events and job search, I occasionally find some time to attend interesting guest speaker events that are held on campus during lunch or after classes. They are always a great way to learn more about a particular topic while getting free food.
