Cynthia Rudin named to 40 Under 40 best business school professors list

MIT Sloan Associate Professor Cynthia Rudin was named this month to the  Poets & Quants 40 Under 40 list of best business school professors.

Rudin joined MIT Sloan in 2009 as a member of the operations research and statistics group. She is affiliated with the  MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and leads the Prediction Analysis Laboratory. She was the 2013 winner of the Innovative Applications in Analytics Award from the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences, known as INFORMS.

Recent work from Rudin includes  using big data to manage health care expectationsanalyzing failures in the New York City power grid, and working with Cambridge, Mass. police  to detect patterns of crime.

In an interview with Poets & Quants, Rudin said her ideal business school of the future would have “lots of analytics and big data. How else are managers going to be sure they are making the right decisions?”
