MIT Sloan tops U.S. News list for production/operations, information systems

The MIT Sloan School of Management maintained its lead among American graduate schools, once again topping the list of production/operations and information systems MBA specialties, according to the 2019 U.S. News & World Report graduate school rankings.

MIT Sloan also kept its respective second and third place rankings for supply chain/logistics and entrepreneurship specialties.

MIT Sloan shares the top five full-time MBA programs with Harvard University, the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and Stanford University. The complete 2019 rankings can be found on the U.S. News site.

According to the rankings, the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based business school had a total of 813 full-time students in 2017. MIT Sloan also had one of the highest rates of employment at graduation, at more than 84 percent of 2017 graduates. Starting salaries and bonuses for the MBA class of '17 were on average $148,000.

The specialty rankings are based on ratings from MBA school deans and directors, according to U.S. News. The deans and directors nominated up to 10 programs for excellence in each area.

The rankings are determined by a late 2017/early 2018 survey of the 480 MBA programs accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International, according to information provided by U.S. News. Of the 480 schools, 387 — about 80 percent — responded to this most recent survey. U.S. News ranked 127 of those schools because they provided enough data.
