MIT Sloan to host forum in Beijing on China's growth and social impact

By

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., March 23, 2014—What are the trends in corporate social responsibility in China? What is higher education’s role in social impact issues? How should social enterprises be managed? These are just a few of the issues that will be addressed by MIT Sloan faculty and business leaders at the MIT Sloan Business and Society Forum on March 28 in Beijing.

“China’s fast-growing economy has created many social issues that the government is not dealing with. Who will step in and lead? What is the responsibility of the corporate sector and higher education?” asks MIT Sloan Professor and Associate Dean for International Programs and Action Learning Yasheng Huang. “The MIT Sloan Business and Society Forum is a significant opportunity to examine these critical questions.”

The event is part of the long-running MIT-China Management Education Project based out of the MIT Sloan Office of International Programs, which was established to strengthen graduate management education programs and collaborations at selected Chinese universities. The Forum will be held at the China Millennium Monument and attended by MIT alumni, students and staff from Tsinghua University’s MBA program, NGOs from the China Social Entrepreneur Foundation and business leaders. It will be sponsored by MIT Sloan Management Review’s China edition, in collaboration with MIT Sloan Office of International Programs and Action Learning and the YouChange China Social Entrepreneur Foundation.
