Recent books include: Restoring the American Dream: A Working Families’ Agenda for America; Management: Inventing and Delivering its Future; Working in America: A Blueprint for the Labor Market, Learning from Saturn; Managing for the Future: Organizational Behavior and Processes, 3rd edition, 2004; An Introduction to Collective Bargaining and Industrial Relations, 3rd ed. 2003; In 1988 his book, The Transformation of American Industrial Relations (with Katz and McKersie) received the annual award from the Academy of Management for the best scholarly book on management. Professor Kochan is a Past President of both the International Labor and Employment Relations Association and, in the U.S., the Labor and Employment Relations Association). He served on the Obama transition team for FMCS.


Robert B. McKersie

Robert McKersie’s recent books include (with Walton and Cutcher-Gershenfeld) Strategic Negotiations (Harvard Business School Press, 1994), (with Walton) the reissued A Behavioral Theory of Labor Negotiations (Ithaca: ILR Press, 1991), and (with Kochan and Katz) The Transformation of American Industrial Relations (Basic Books, 1986). Past president, Labor and Employment Relations Association.


Nancy E. Peace

Labor Arbitrator and Mediation

Nancy Peace is past President of the Association for Conflict Resolution and a member of the National Academy of Arbitrators. Former Mediator/Arbitrator, Massachusetts Board of Conciliation and Arbitration and former professor, Simmons College. She served on the Obama transition team for FMCS.


Phyllis N. Segal

Attorney and former Chair of the Federal Labor Relations Authority

Former Chair, Federal Labor Relations Authority; Member, President National Partnership Council; Director, Employment Dispute Resolution Services, Endispute; and Deputy Attorney General, Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Publications include Solving Problems or Litigating Claims: A perspective on Federal Labor Relations in The Public Manager, Winter 1999-2000. She served on the Obama transition team for federal sector labor relations.
