MIT offers on-campus housing to over a third of its graduate students. Single students live at Ashdown House, Tang Hall, Green Hall, 224 Albany (also known as NW30), or Edgerton House. A new facility, 70 Pacific Street, opened in August 2002. Married students live in west campus (Westgate) units or in an apartment tower that is adjacent to the MIT Sloan School (Eastgate).
Newly admitted students who would like to live on campus should apply immediately when they receive the on-campus housing application enclosed with their letter of admission. Off-campus housing is available nearby in Cambridge and Somerville, and in suburbs. Learn more about campus housing and off-campus housing.
In addition to tuition, other expenses — such as housing, food, medical insurance, books, and personal expenses — are estimated to be $18,000 (calculated for the academic year of nine months) and higher for married students and students with children. Such expenses may vary significantly, depending on lifestyle and other individual considerations.
Professor Jay Forrester founded system dynamics 40 years ago, and today “systems thinking” is vital to effective management in the global economy.
