Catherine Gamon directs the Student Life Office, which fosters a culture of collaboration, contribution and caring across all of MIT Sloan's degree programs. Catherine develops the strategic vision for Student Life services and leads a team of professionals who create and deliver community-building events and activities. She oversees advising for clubs and activities as well as personal advising and crisis support services, collaborates with program offices and other departments on community-building initiatives, and leads diversity and inclusion programming as well as Values@MITSloan initiatives.
Prior to coming to MIT Sloan in 2000, Catherine managed international education programs and services at a variety of academic institutions (Stanford University, the University of California at San Diego) and private organizations (the American Institute for Foreign Study and the Council on International Educational Exchange). Catherine holds an A.B. in International Relations from Stanford University, an M.S. in Counseling from San Diego State University, and an MBA from Simmons College. She also recently completed a certificate program in Positive Psychology.
Catherine considers herself to be a “global nomad,” having spent many of her formative years outside the United States. Her personal interests range from food and wine to mindfulness practices such as yoga.
