Thomas Kochan Comments on Unionization Trends among US Workers

In a June 2022 CNBC article, MIT Sloan Professor Emeritus Thomas Kochan offers expert perspective on the recent uptick in unionization efforts among US workers, and what managers need to understand about it.

According to Kochan, managers need to get past a reflexive anti-union perspective and develop a more nuanced and constructive approach to dealing with unionization attempts by their workers.  Business executives "are leaders and good people and care about their workforce, and to them, 'The union will just get in the way,'" Kochan told CNBC. "We’ve got to address that issue and engage the business community in recognizing these pressures are not going to go away."
