A Personalized Approach to Rewarding Career Opportunities.

MFin’s career development takes advantage of today’s incredibly diverse, opportunity-rich world of finance.  Our highly personalized approach provides individual students with expert guidance in navigating these premier opportunities.

Students work hand-in-hand with advisors from business and finance backgrounds, who help match career goals to opportunities among highly sought-after established financial firms, public institutions, and leading-edge organizations around the world.

As an MFin student, you’ll benefit from the experiences and connections of our advisors who focus on maximizing your potential, while you gain exclusive access to MIT’s trusted connections in the best and most exciting, growing fields.

MFin students have full access to both the MIT Sloan Career Development Office (CDO) and the MIT Global Education & Career Development Office (GECD).  The CDO plays a vital role in connecting our students with leading global and domestic firms, while the MIT GECD offers complementary services and expands the list of prospective employers.

Our resources can identify multiple avenues to help you build an effective job search strategy, including on-campus recruiting, job postings, networking, referrals, alumni contacts and career fairs.

    Skill building

MFin students begin building essential job search skills during Career Core in the summer. MFin Career Core helps you to develop your resume, improve your written communications including cover letters, refine behavioral and technical interviewing, sharpen your networking skills, and even polish your etiquette. We help you prepare for the company presentations that begin in early September. Interviewing typically begins in the fall, but can start as early as August for certain industries.

MIT attracts recruiters from a variety of specialties within finance, including asset management, investment banking, corporate finance, quantitative trading and research, and more. In addition, recruiters across industries, including consulting and general management, recruit students at MIT Sloan. We work together with student clubs to expose you to a wide variety of career paths available in finance and to prepare you to pursue a position in the area you choose.

On-campus recruiting is a powerful tool for both students and companies, but it isn't the only path to finding your career. Many students secure positions through a variety of alternative avenues, including job postings, alumni contacts, networking events, and other search strategies.

    Discussions, presentations, and panels

Regular CDO-sponsored company presentations, expert panels, and other networking events, including the MFin Networking Night, provide numerous opportunities for you to explore finance areas you may not have previously considered for a career.

    MFin Study Tours

In the spring, students can elect to travel on a Study Tour for a series of institutional and company presentations & introductions. Students also participate in cultural events to improve their understanding of the region. Past MFin Study Tours have visited Hong Kong, Singapore, and London.
