About

Mel Horwitch is a Visiting Scholar at the MIT Sloan School of Management.

He was formerly University Professor at Central European University, Dean of CEU Business School, and Director of CEUBS’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Project, all located in Budapest, Hungary. He has published and taught extensively on technology strategy, global innovation, and modern entrepreneurship, most recently with regard to the analytics/data science and emerging-economy opportunities. Previously, he was Department Chair, Professor of Technology Management, and Director of the Institute for Technology and Enterprise at NYU-Poly (now the Tandon School of Engineering at NYU). He has also served on the MIT Sloan School and Harvard Business School faculties. More recently, Mel was Visiting Scholar at UCSD’s Rady School of Management and Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo. He was also Visiting Professor at London Business School and Founding Dean and Professor of Management at Theseus Institute (now EDHEC) in Sophia Antipolis, France.

He received his AB from Princeton University and MBA and Doctorate from Harvard Business School. He served as a US Peace Corps Volunteer in Thailand.
