Fellowships & Assistantships

Fellowships

MIT Sloan offers fellowship opportunities to first and second-year students, thanks in part to the generous support of individual, corporate, and foundation donors.

The MIT Sloan Admissions Committee awards merit-based fellowships to exceptional students based on various criteria, including:

  • Academic excellence
  • Professional achievements
  • Potential to enhance the MIT Sloan community

Fellowships Awarded Upon Admission

The fellowships listed below, established through generous gifts from MIT Sloan alumni and friends, are available to admitted students. Eligible students are automatically considered for these awards and do not need to submit an additional application. Fellowship recipients are typically notified upon admission to the school. This applies to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and international students.

Fellowships Requiring a Separate Application

Several fellowships require a separate application process and are awarded through their respective organizations. Please see below for more information on these fellowships and application instructions. Additionally, explore the full list of fellowship and scholarship opportunities.

Assistantships

Every year, MIT Sloan appoints a number of MBA students to teaching and research assistantships that vary in workload and compensation levels. While helping students cover their expenses, these competitive positions offer outstanding exposure to the school's educational and research programs. Responsibilities may include working one-on-one with students, assisting in research, and grading assignments and examinations. TA and RA positions are available each year to Master's-level students, as well as PhD students. MBA students are not able to pursue these opportunities until their second semester in the program.

Faculty members choose their own Research and Teaching Assistants, and each may have different application processes. Learn more about student employment opportunities.
