Abstract
In 2004, Eli Lilly was considering how to alter its business model in order to address the changing face of the pharmaceutical industry brought on by new science and unsustainable cost structures.
Learning Objective
To demonstrate issues inherent in “making strategy” in terms of very significant environmental turbulence; introduce students to the strengths and weaknesses of scenario planning as a tool; and enable them to practice making strategic choices.
