Students from MIT—one of the world’s leading business schools—collaborate with local companies to learn about strategic growth, penetration of new markets and more

 Student teams from MIT’s Sloan School of Management – one of the world’s top business schools – worked with eight Israeli start-ups as part of the MIT Israel Lab. MIT Sloan launched the Israel Lab project last year with six companies to help companies address critical strategic challenges.

This year, seven new companies, including Revelator Ltd and ScaleMe, and one previous partner, Voyager Labs, were selected to participate.

Through MIT’s Israel Lab, host companies gain insights and expertise in critical areas such as strategic growth, new market entry, pricing, marketing, benchmarking, fundraising, and financial strategies. Students, on the other hand, have unprecedented opportunities to apply their advanced knowledge from the classroom to real time business challenges.

Student teams have been working with these host companies remotely from MIT’s campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts since November, when MIT Sloan Israel Lab faculty members matched the best-qualified teams to their preferred host companies. The students spend three weeks in Israel in January working full-time onsite at their host company’s office. The teams’ final deliverables include a concrete analysis that the host companies can begin to use immediately.

Israel Lab is one of 15 pioneering Action Learning labs available to students at MIT Sloan. While project activities vary, they are united by common themes, including experiential, reflective, and peer learning; faculty mentoring; real-world problem solving; knowledge transfer; and, perhaps unique to MIT Sloan, a student team engagement intended to have a measurable business and/or social impact.
