Simone Cavallaro Appointed Executive Director of the Golub Center for Finance and Policy

The Golub Center for Finance and Policy (GCFP) at the MIT Sloan School of Management is pleased to announce the appointment of Simone Cavallaro as its new Executive Director.

In this role, Cavallaro will lead the Center’s operations and strategic initiatives, working closely with faculty leadership to advance GCFP’s mission of improving financial policy through rigorous, non-partisan research and engagement with the global policy community.

Cavallaro brings extensive experience in leading academic centers and building programs that connect research with practice. Most recently, he served as Director of Operations and Outreach at the Querrey Simpson Institute for Bioelectronics at Northwestern University. Previously, he held leadership roles at The Family Institute at Northwestern University and at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he directed the Stigler Center for the Study of the Economy and the State. During his tenure at Chicago Booth, he launched several high-impact initiatives, including the Journalists in Residence Program and the Capitalisn’t podcast.

“We are delighted to welcome Simone to the Golub Center,” said Deborah Lucas, Director of the GCFP and Sloan Distinguished Professor of Finance. “His experience in building and scaling academic initiatives, combined with his ability to translate research into broader impact, will be invaluable as we continue to expand the Center’s reach and influence.”

“I am honored to join the Golub Center and to work alongside its faculty, students, and partners,” said Simone. “I look forward to supporting the Center’s mission and strengthening its role as a leading voice at the intersection of finance and public policy.”

Cavallaro holds an MA in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of Padua and is currently pursuing an MBA at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
