Jackie Selby, EMBA ’21, hosts a conversation with Cathy Kang, SF ’06, on reinvention, lifelong learning, and how her MIT Sloan experience helped shape a remarkable journey of service and creativity.
Like an excited dog, Cathy Kang, SF ’06, has always been attracted to shiny things in her career. She served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 24 years in 12 duty stations, including the Pentagon and White House. After retiring from the Coast Guard, she worked a few odd jobs then went back to school as a 50-year-old freshman at Berklee College of Music. Cathy is now a board-certified music therapist serving people of all ages with special needs. She's also a storytelling coach-in-training with the PBS show Stories From The Stage. In her spare time, she performs in community musical theatre, spends time in nature, and does her best to make her husband and two teenaged children roll their eyes at her. They live happily on the south shore of Boston.
