Jackie Selby, EMBA ’21, hosts a conversation with technologist, entrepreneur, and investor, Peter Dolch, SB '89, on lessons learned building businesses over three decades, insights from improv, and the importance of giving back.
Peter Dolch is the Chairman of the MIT Sloan Club of New York and a founder of the MIT Women's Venture Challenge — an annual pitch competition that brings together startups, investors, and the MIT community.
Peter's career started at MIT, where he graduated with a degree in Management Information Science (after a circuitous route through course 6), and has wound through more than two decades of building — first at Thaumaturgix (Tgix), the technology consulting firm he co-founded in the mid-90s, which he grew to over 100 employees and where he sold over $120M in consulting services, and later as co-founder and CTO of companies like Biospectal (non-invasive blood pressure monitoring) and Psyber (AI-driven cyber risk assessment). Currently he runs AEON Foundry, formerly an angel fund, now a venture studio focused on early-stage technology companies. Peter wears the hats of mentor, advisor, and occasional builder, depending on what a portfolio company needs most.
Peter is a curious generalist and gets excited by the intersection of technology and human behavior, which possibly explains why he keeps ending up in roles ranging from advisor to CxO in healthcare and other startups. He is also a tinkerer by nature, and currently has a sophisticated, agentic AI chief-of-staff system he's been (stealthily) building and iterating on, soon to launch (and for which he's soon to fundraise).
Peter lives in Westchester with his wife and two children, and is an adult leader with the Scouts, with whom he leads yearly hiking/camping expeditions to the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
