3 from MIT Sloan named to 2018 Forbes’ ‘30 under 30’ lists

Three MIT Sloan alumni were named to the 2018 Forbes’ “30 under 30” lists. Working in fields like social media, agriculture, and finance, these young business leaders are applying technology to civic engagement, fuel efficiency of farms, and high-frequency trading.In addition to the MIT Sloan graduates below, this year’s lists also included MIT graduates working in health care, science, manufacturing, and elsewhere, as well as MIT faculty members. 

Lisa Conn, MBA ’17 As a strategic partner manager of civic communities on Facebook's product partnerships team, Conn, 28, is focused on building civically engaged communities through product development and leadership training. At MIT Sloan, Conn earned a master’s degree of business administration. She worked at the MIT Media Lab, where she was the project manager of Electome, a machine learning project that identified and classified election-related tweets. She was named to Forbes’ law and policy list.

Jess Newman, MBA ’17 As the director of U.S. agronomy for Anheuser-Busch InBev, Newman, 29, and her team help barley, rice, and hop farmers increase their efficiency by using both smart and more fuel-efficient technology. She earned a master’s degree of business administration and a sustainability certificate at MIT Sloan, where she also organized the first MIT-Rabobank Food and Agribusiness Innovation Prize, among other things. She was named to Forbes’ energy list.

Christina Qi, SB ’13 Qi, 26, is a partner at Domeyard LP, a hedge fund she co-founded in 2013 with Luca Lin and MIT alumnus Jonathan Wang, SB ’13, MEng ’15. All three were named to Forbes’ finance list. The company makes $1 billion of trades daily based on high-performance computing and data analysis. Qi, who earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and financial management services at MIT Sloan, has also guest lectured an MIT class on retirement finance.
