With and Without a Thesis

    In MIT's rigorous and exhilarating academic environment, most MIT Sloan Fellows MBA students earn a traditional MBA degree.

  • Thesis and Two Different Degree Options

    Students pursuing a thesis, either individually or with a co-author, have the option to earn either an SM in Management or an SM in Management of Technology in place of an MBA. Alumni who have opted to write a thesis emphasize the significant impact their research had in transitioning them to new roles within their organizations.

STEM Classification

The MIT Sloan Fellows MBA Program qualifies as a STEM-designated program, allowing international students approved for Optional Practical Training (OPT) in the U.S. after graduation to extend their standard 12 months to a total of 36 months.
