MFin Curriculum

The Master of Finance (MFin) program at the MIT Sloan School of Management combines a rigorous foundation in modern finance with hands-on opportunities to apply ideas to real-world challenges. The curriculum includes required Core courses, restricted electives, and a required Action Learning course. With approval from the faculty director, students may also complete a thesis or independent study.

What Is the Difference Between the 12 and 18-Month MFin Formats?

The MIT Sloan MFin program can be completed in either 12 or 18 months. Both formats have the same degree requirements, but they follow different timelines.

The 12-month format allows students to complete the full curriculum, including the required Action Learning experience, in one year. The 18-month format includes a second summer term, during which students may pursue an internship or research assistantship before completing the program.
