Mortgage Credit Risk Roundtable

By

On July 18, 2024, the GCFP co-hosted a gathering at Sloan to discuss the housing finance market that included industry participants, researchers, and regulators.  Sharath Sharathchandra (SVP of Financial Solutions at Ventera, who co-hosted the event), joined GCFP Executive Director Ed Golding to lead the discussion.  Topics covered included:

  • Current developments in the mortgage market: challenges & opportunities
  • Use of AI and alternative data in mortgage credit risk
  • Affordability and access to housing
  • Banks and non-banks in mortgage finance

The objective of this roundtable was to develop strategies to promote sustainable home ownership and rental opportunities that are based on research and analysis of mortgage credit risk. Participants came from the mortgage market (GSEs, mortgage insurers, Wall Street), government (Fed, FHFA, FHA) and academia.

Anyone interested in joining future discussions of the housing finance market should contact Ed Golding at egolding@mit.edu.
