Former Boston Fed President Rosengren: The Fed will have to rely on 'noisier' data during shutdown
CNBC, Squawk Box | As the federal government shutdown pauses the release of official economic statistics, MIT GCFP Visiting Scholar and Former Boston Fed President Eric Rosengren notes in a conversation with Squawk Box's Joe Kernen that the Federal Reserve will have to rely on “noisier” data.
Rosengren emphasized that while information from private sources remains available, the absence of official federal data complicates monetary policy decisions. “It’s not that there isn’t any economic data, there’s just no federal government economic data,” he said. “It’s not a great situation for the Federal Reserve to have to be dealing with noisier data.”
