15.355 Engine Lab: Building and Scaling Deep Tech Ventures
Engine Lab focuses on deep tech ventures and startups that are utilizing breakthrough science and technology solutions to address some of the world’s most important problems. They differ from other startup companies in the domains of uncertainty that they face – founding teams and their investors often face significant uncertainty along technological feasibility (solution), customer/market (problem), regulatory, and scale-up dimensions. These uncertainties make deep tech entrepreneurship innately more difficult, but for those that succeed, present very real opportunities to change the world. This lecture- and project-based course will support students’ efforts to build the hard and soft skills necessary to be a deep tech entrepreneur, investor or ecosystem participant through lectures, exercises and working with deep tech founders and investors.
