Defense and Dual-Use Ventures Lab

Navigating commercial and military tech markets

DDuV projects address the specific challenges that dual-use or defense ventures face: how do you build a company that can be successful with both commercial and mission-focused customers? How do you navigate government grants and VC funding at the same time? How do you manage export controls and building out tech across multiple pathways?

Project types include: strategic analysis of a startup's technology, market position, and regulatory environment; customer discovery with military, national security, or disaster relief stakeholders; applying the MIT Dual-Use Readiness Levels™ to assess and advance a startup's dual-use strategy; go-to-market planning across commercial and government channels; regulatory and export-control analysis; supply chain resilience and operational security assessment; and fundraising strategy across government and commercial capital sources.

If students have their own startups that they’d like to focus on, we will consider them on a case-by-case basis.
