AI, Systems Leadership, and Designing the Future with System Dynamics
This MIT IAP morning session program brings together systems leadership, industry application, artificial intelligence, and advanced System Dynamics to explore how human reasoning and emerging computational capabilities can help us understand complexity, navigate uncertainty, and design better futures. Through expert presentations, technical demonstrations, and interactive discussions, the program examines Systems Thinking in military leadership, the practical application of systems approaches in industry, AI-assisted modeling with isee systems’ Stella Architect and Socrates agent, and emerging analytical capabilities from Ventana Systems. Participants will explore how these perspectives connect leadership, organizational decision-making, and the evolving practice of dynamic modeling and simulation.
Moving beyond automation, the workshop examines how artificial intelligence can augment—not replace—human judgment, methodological rigor, and systems understanding. From agentic modeling and feedback analysis to uncertainty quantification, Model Predictive Control, and real-world applications, participants will consider how emerging technologies can reveal hidden relationships, challenge assumptions, and support adaptive decisions in complex environments.
The session also emphasizes the enduring importance of Systems Thinking and System Dynamics as disciplines that connect theory, simulation, and practice. Whether leading organizations, advising decision-makers, conducting research, or developing models, participants are invited to explore how human and computational intelligence can work together to advance the practice of understanding and shaping dynamic systems.
