Twitter Chat: Does ESG investing fulfill its promise?
Join MIT Sloan School of Management’s Jason Jay (@jasonjjay) as he shares his perspective on current trends, what works and what needs to be fixed, and the future of ESG investing.
Guiding this discussion will be Grant Harrison (@GreenBiz), GreenBiz’s conference chair for GreenFin, the premier ESG event aligning the sustainability, investment and finance communities.
Jason is a co-founder of MIT Sloan’s Aggregate Confusion Project, whose goal is to reduce the level of noise in measuring specific ESG categories such as labor treatment, carbon emissions, and product safety. As a senior lecturer and director of the Sustainability Initiative at MIT Sloan, Jason teaches courses on leadership, strategy, and innovation for sustainable business. These efforts build a community of innovators for sustainability that includes MIT students and alumni, faculty and researchers, with partners in business, government, NGOs, and hybrid organizations. He holds a PhD in organization studies from MIT Sloan.
As director of Sustainable Finance & ESG, Grant leads on program development for GreenFin, a premier ESG event aligning the sustainability, investment and finance communities. Grant works to direct the vigor of capital markets toward the realization of a clean and just economy, and to make GreenFin the launchpad of the ideas, insights and connections that will shift capital allocation to support sustainability. Earlier in his career, Grant worked under the auspices of the USDA implementing reforestation projects in fire-affected regions of Northern California. He holds a master’s degree in environmental governance from Oxford University.
