Michellana is a Senior Lecturer in the Global Economics and Management Group and has more than two decades of management consulting, organizational, and leadership development experience, and more than a dozen years at MIT working with graduate students. Michellana designs innovative and impactful learning experiences to assist learners in advancing their personal and professional goals. She has worked with private corporations, non-profit organizations, and public agency clients, specializing in leadership development, team building, and organizational change. Her consulting work included executive coaching and assisting leaders in transitioning out of and into new roles. 

Michellana has written and presented her research on action learning, leadership, adult learning, human resources, and organizational development in a variety of forums including Academy of Management, Management Learning, the Institute for Experiential Learning, the Financial Times, Fast Company, BizEd Magazine, and Psychology Today

Creating a Live Bird Price Engine for Chickin Indonesia

Chicken is one of the most popular options in Indonesia’s meat industry, valued at $17.5 billion and growing. It’s an affordable, widely available source of protein, as well as a promising market with plenty of room for growth. However, pricing is extremely volatile, as there is no agreed-upon benchmark pricing. Sellers negotiate daily, and prices fluctuate widely based on the city, feed prices, chicken weight class, and other factors. To better predict pricing fluctuations, Chickin Indonesia tasked a team of MIT Sloan Global Entrepreneurship Lab (G-Lab) students with creating a Live Bird Price Engine. The students were eager to take on the challenge.

From Malaysia to Brazil: Action Learning team reunites to make an impact

Sometimes, an MIT Sloan Action Learning team is so successful that it calls for an encore. That’s what happened for MBA ’25 students Shawn George, Neha Golakia, Trung Nguyen, and Nisha Patel when they teamed up again for a Global Entrepreneurship Lab (G-Lab) project in Brazil after a successful ASEAN Lab project in Malaysia last year.
