MIT Sloan Office of Communications

Excerpted from MIT Sloan Management Review Editor in Chief Abbie Lundberg’s letter to subscribers on September 10, 2026

We're writing to inform you that MIT Sloan Management Review will cease print publication following the magazine’s fall issue. Our regular digital content will continue through November 2026.

This winter, MIT Sloan will launch a new, fully digital version of MIT Sloan Management Review that will provide readers with timely, research-based insights from MIT faculty and researchers — as well as other leading management experts outside of MIT. You will receive an announcement about the first issue later this fall.

In the meantime, you can subscribe to two newsletters from MIT Sloan:

  • Thinking Forward is a weekly digest of ideas and insights for your work from MIT experts.
  • AI at Work is a monthly examination of research and insights powering the intersection of AI and business.

For more useful ideas from MIT experts, follow MIT Sloan on LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, X, and Threads

The MIT SMR archive will continue to be accessible online and will be featured in the new MIT Sloan Management Review.

Excerpted from Dean Rick Locke’s letter to faculty and staff, April 29, 2026

We are at a pivotal moment at MIT Sloan School of Management, where what we communicate, and how we communicate, has a direct impact on our visibility, impact, and engagement with the world. Reflecting broader shifts in how audiences engage with management ideas and publications, the school has made the difficult decision to cease production of MIT Sloan Management Review.

This decision follows a series of reviews that the school has undertaken over the past year as we increase our focus on strategic priorities and areas of greatest impact. We are working closely with the MIT SMR team to ensure a thoughtful wind down of the publication and to provide support to the team members affected by this transition. We are grateful for the entire team’s dedication to MIT Sloan and their work to share management ideas with practitioners around the world for nearly 70 years.

MIT Sloan is building a more unified, strategic, and streamlined approach to our communications practices, across our internal and external audiences, and in alignment with MIT’s broader priorities. We are strengthening the school’s voice, elevating the quality and reach of our content, and better serving all of our constituents — faculty, staff, and students, as well as alumni and global business leaders.

In an increasingly competitive and crowded information landscape, it is essential that our audiences clearly recognize, understand, and value what MIT Sloan contributes as a school — its thought leadership, and its impact in the world — as we continue to work together to invent the future of management education and management practice.
