MIT Sloan ASEAN Office

Opening the office in Bangkok was a strategic decision, built upon years of prior MIT engagement in the ASEAN region with experts, educators, entrepreneurs, and a robust alumni community. This expanded presence of MIT Sloan in the ASEAN region is a great opportunity for MIT Sloan to have an impact both locally and globally. It will also allow us to broaden our focus on key areas including climate, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship, and the future of work.

Mission
The MIT Sloan ASEAN Office will serve as a bridge to bring action learning, convening activities, and faculty from across all of MIT together with the purpose of building visibility and community while driving economic and social impact throughout the region.

The Three Pillars of the MSAO

  • Faculty Research: MIT faculty are conducting groundbreaking research in the ASEAN region. Faculty (and students) have already been working and convening around topics such as water, fintech, aging and the economy, and more.
  • Action Learning: Since 2002, more than 700 students have participated in experiential learning opportunities through nearly 200 MIT Sloan action learning projects across five graduate-level lab courses, hosted by 96 companies across Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
  • Convening Activities: The office will serve as a main hub for conferences, events, and meetings between MIT Sloan and individuals, companies, and organizations across the region.
