MIT Sloan Annual Fund
The MIT Sloan Annual Fund provides essential, flexible funding to ensure that our community can pursue excellence, explore the unknown, and invent the future. It provides unrestricted support for the school to meet its changing needs, respond to current management challenges and opportunities, provide flexible aid for research and experimentation, and support students. The Annual Fund allows the school to be as flexible and innovative as possible. There are many areas of the school that rely on these unrestricted, flexible dollars, and these funds are used immediately wherever they are needed most.
Immediate Needs and Emerging Opportunities
Gifts to this Impact Area provide MIT Sloan with funding to respond immediately to the needs of both faculty and students as they arise. The INEO Fund is one of the Dean’s top priorities. In our ever-changing environment, it is important that we are able to be responsive and flexible for whatever our community needs. Every day, opportunities emerge that allow MIT Sloan to be innovative and remain at the forefront of management education; funding these activities is the first step in paving the way for future leaders.
Entrepreneurship and Innovation
MIT Sloan has long been known as a hub of entrepreneurship and innovation. The Sloan Annual Fund supports a multitude of opportunities and activities related to entrepreneurship and innovation such as the Legatum Center, the Martin Trust Center, Entrepreneurship Lab (E-Lab), the MIT Initiative on the Digital Economy, and the MIT Innovation Initiative.
Innovations in Health
MIT Sloan recognizes the powerful impact well-functioning health systems can have on both personal and societal welfare. The Sloan Annual Fund supports a diverse slate of high caliber, healthcare-related faculty research and activities including the Initiative on Health Systems Innovation (HSI), the Initiative on Food Safety, Operations Research Center Health Initiatives, and Action Learning labs.
Sustainability
MIT Sloan is committed to developing principled leaders educated in and dedicated to sustainable business practices. The Sloan Annual Fund supports a diverse range of sustainability-related centers, faculty research, and initiatives such as the MIT Sloan Sustainability Initiative, PROMISE/Aggregate Confusion, the Climate Co-Lab/Climate Plan Accelerator, and Action Learning labs.
Innovations in Analytics
MIT Sloan is built on a foundation of analytics with the goal of tackling global business challenges using data and machine learning. Analytics at MIT Sloan touches many students – from those who have participated in Analytics Lab to students enrolled in the Master of Business Analytics program. Gifts to the Sloan Annual Fund in support of Innovations in Analytics enable the school to continue to keep up with the industry and prepare our students to be leaders in this realm.
Student Life and an Inclusive Community
Being a principled, innovative leader requires robust educational opportunities that motivate students to continue learning outside of the classroom. Funding to this Impact Area also helps build an inclusive and diverse community, one of the top priorities of the school. The Leadership Center, the Career Development Office, and the Student Life Office are all vital parts of the MIT Sloan experience.
